Race Week Updates

One week to Race Day !

Weather

The wind looks to be from the south, which might slow times down. If you were on the edge of finishing before dark, please review your strategy for boat lights. If you are registered in the 90km and wish to switch to the 40km, please email info@kingston2ottawa.com

Race Trackers

At least one racer per boat is required to install the Webscorer tracker app. Please see https://www.kingston2ottawa.com/tracking-setup

The K2O rules require you have a phone with you for emergencies. The Webscorer app is designed to use very low power (compared with sport GPS apps.) It tracks once per 5 minutes. It will not run down your battery. The tracking app is mandatory. We reserve the right to delay your race start or stop you at a lock if your tracking is not set up.

Seeley’s Bay 40km start information

The start line for the 40km race has been finalized. Access via Bay Street in Seeleys Bay. https://goo.gl/maps/SLWnPSYw25WtUtaW7

Drop off boats by the docks then move your car quickly to the parking area.

Kingston Mills Lock Station Portage. There are some issues worth noting. The low dock on the river left side of the high dock can be used for portage, but it is very unstable.

90 km 1/2 K2O Start Line

The 90km start line is at Rideau Ferry Rd https://goo.gl/maps/xvhKdoY5m7tCtabw8 . The recommended arrival time is 4:45 to 5:15 am to pick up race kits and sign waivers. The mandatory pre-race briefing will be at 5:40 on the dock. Launch boats by 5:50 to be ready for the 6:00 am start. Note: when approaching Jones Falls, the first set of docks you see on the left is not the portage dock. Continue on through the channel until you see the actual lock, and K2O volunteers. The portage dock is river left. If you take out at the first dock, you will be in for a long walk.

Safety

Please note in 2025 PFDs must be worn through the entire race. Please review other rules and mandatory gear at https://www.kingston2ottawa.com/ Some useful maps and portage info is at https://www.kingston2ottawa.com/portagesandsupport-s-1 If you think you might finish after dark, be sure to plan your lights. We reserve the right to remove you from the race if it is dark and your lighting is not sufficient.
